Martyrs Movie Plot :\u00a0<\/i><\/b><\/h2>\n

In 1971, a young girl, Lucie Jurin, escapes from a disused\u00a0abattoir<\/strong>\u00a0where she has been imprisoned and physically abused for more than a year. The perpetrators and their motivations remain a mystery. Lucie is placed in an orphanage, where she is befriended by a young girl named Anna Assaoui, who quickly discovers that Lucie believes that she is constantly being terrorized by a ghoulish creature – a disfigured, emaciated woman. Even so, Anna comforts Lucie every time she has a nightmare.<\/p>\n

MOVIE REVIEW :<\/h4>\n

I would recommend Martyrs as\u00a0a movie\u00a0<\/span>of incredible tension, harrowing physical violence and indelible imagery; unsurprisingly, the director name-checked Dario Argento during the Q&A as\u00a0a serious\u00a0<\/span>influence in his youth and\u00a0there’s\u00a0<\/span>a transparent\u00a0<\/span>and assured\u00a0<\/span>signature\u00a0within the\u00a0<\/span>work which suggests some parallels\u00a0are often\u00a0<\/span>made between\u00a0the 2\u00a0<\/span>film-makers. I loved this movie and for\u00a0those that\u00a0<\/span>have already posted comments good, bad or indifferent (and\u00a0i actually\u00a0<\/span>can’t imagine a neutral response!) I hope like myself\u00a0you’ve got\u00a0<\/span>come away with\u00a0a real\u00a0<\/span>sense\u00a0of getting\u00a0<\/span>seen something\u00a0the likes of\u00a0<\/span>of which we are unlikely\u00a0to ascertain\u00a0<\/span>for a few\u00a0<\/span>time..<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
